Brigitte Axelrode is currently a dance and communication studies major at Loyola Marymount University. Axelrode began her classical dance training in Jazz and Ballet in Orinda, CA at the California Academy of Performing Arts. Her training also includes summer intensives at the Alonzo King Lines Ballet Company and Loyola Marymount University’s dance program under the direction of Lillian Barbeito, John Todd, Jason Myhre, Rosalynde LeBlanc Loo, and Damon Rago. Axelrode has performed Namita Kapoor’s “Hindu Swing” for its last two performances in San Francisco, California, and has worked with choreographers such as Cherice Barton, Dana Foglia, and Rosalynde Le Blanc Loo in venues such as the Carpenter Center in Long Beach, among others. Axelrode is also one of the co-founders of Hexagon Dance Collective and looks forward to her future in the company.
Sam Blaz was born and raised in San Jose, California. Throughout high school she trained in Cheryl Copeland’s pre-professional company with an emphasis on modern dance and had the opportunity to work with choreographers such as Cindy Salgado and Shaneeka Harell. Now, she continues her training at Loyola Marymount University where she will be receiving a BA in Dance in May 2017. Over the course of her three years she has worked and trained with choreographers such as Rosalynde LeBlanc, Cherice Barton, and Lillian Barbeito. She has also spent a month training at the Hubbard Street Summer Program where she learned and performed repertoire from pieces by Alejandro Cerrudo and Nacho Duato, and time training at the BODYTRAFFIC Summer Program where she worked with Winifred Burnet Smith of Hofesh Shechter Company and reconnected with Cindy Salgado of Kidd Pivot. This year, Sam will be featured in the famous Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane piece, “D-Man in the Waters”, and the documentary “D-Man”, which shares the story of the original piece.
Anna Chorneyko was born and raised in Batavia, IL where she studied multiple styles of dance with SoleUnique Dance Company. She has had extensive training at summer programs with The Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance Company. Anna has maintained a YouTube channel signed with the World Of Dance Network and Fullscreen Inc. with over 5 million views on her choreography. She currently resides in Los Angeles where she is receiving her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance with an emphasis in Public Relations at Loyola Marymount University. Here she has studied under Jason Myhre, John Todd, Lillian Barbeito and Roz Leblanc Loo. Anna has performed works created by Loretta Livingston, Amy Campion, Damon Rago, Bliss Kohlmyer, BodyTraffic and Bill T. Jones. Next year she will be featured in a dance documentary about the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company famous piece, “D-Man in the Waters.” She is a proud co-founder of Hexagon Dance Collective and is excited to use her stylistically versatile knowledge to pave her own future in the dance world.
Tina Dossa, is an emerging young performer, born and raised in Walnut Creek, CA. She is currently studying dance at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and will graduate with a BA in Dance in December 2016. Over the course of three years, Dossa has furthered her study of dance at the American Dance Festival and San Francisco Conservatory of Dance where she trained under Sara Procopio, T Lang and Summer Lee Rhatigan. In the past two years Dossa has performed several works, those including choreography by Rosalynde Loo, Mike Esperanza, Keith Johnson, Alex Ketley, Christian Burns and Gregory Maqoma. Dossa is in the process of rehearsing the famous Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company piece “D-Man in the Waters” which she will perform in November 2016, as well as be featured in the upcoming documentary. Dossa is a co-founder and performer of Hexagon Dance Collective and looks forward to her further with the company.
Kathleen Kenny, born in Chicago, Illinois, began her dance training at 13. A fourth year dance major at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, Kathleen is also pursuing a theatre minor. With a strong background in Jazz, Kathleen has studied with Denise Leitner, Laura Smythe, Jason Mhyre, John Todd, and many more. She has been seen in works by Laura Karlin, Rosalynde Loo, and Shauna Zambelli. Kathleen is currently working on “D-Man in the Waters” originally performed by the Bill T.Jones Arnie Zane Dance Company. She will be recreating Bill T. Jones part in the piece premiering in November, along with the documentary that is expected to be released in 2017. In addition Kathleen studies voice with Edward Sayegh and studies acting with various Los Angeles based coaches. Recently Kathleen was featured in a national commercial for First Entertainment Credit Union, and she can be seen in the Feature Film Emotions produced by Love.xxx that will be released in 2017.
Gigi Todisco is a professional dancer raised in Chicago, and is currently based out of Los Angeles, CA. In high school she trained under the guidance of Ricky Ruiz and Sherry Moray. Todisco now studies at Loyola Marymount University with Rosalynde LeBlanc, Lillian Barbeito, Jason Mhyre and John Todd amongst other faculty, and is expecting to graduate in 2017 with a BA in Dance and a minor in Physics. Todisco has also trained with companies such as Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, BODYTRAFFIC, River North Dance Chicago, and San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. This year Todisco assists Rosalynde Leblanc as she recreates the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company’s famous piece, “D-Man in the Waters” to be featured in a documentary. In addition to performing works by choreographers Keith Johnson, Mike Esperanza, Charissa Barton, Alessio Silvestrin, Alex Ketley and Cherice Barton, Todisco co-founded Hexagon Dance Collective.
